Weekend

What does the weekend mean to me today?  I can't really complain to much about the work week right now or lack thereof.  However, I know that will follow soon enough.  The reason I look forward to the weekends right now are my kids.

Children live for the weekend, just shy of 2 1/2 days of no school and there's reason to celebrate.  I can only assume that it's due in part to getting to spend time with mom and dad.  Okay, it's probably more along the lines of video games, friends and staying up late, but I can wish.

For now, I'll settle for the mom and dad idea.  This afternoon, just after church and changing out of her beautiful Palm Sunday performance dress, my daughter wanted to play football.  I do consider anything my daughter wants to do with me to be quite an honor.  She is a mama's girl, she loves spending time with mom and is always aware of where mom is.  Today, however, was dad's day, and I lived it up.

It's a pretty special thing when a little girl wants her daddy.  She wants safety, she wants support but today she just wanted fun.  After an hour of football, a trip to Home Depot and some coloring, mom got home.  My little sweetheart was worn out but it's times like this I will never forget and why I now live for the weekend.

Cheers
